ON THE SPIRITUAL IN CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE
Co-sponsored with the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University, the Architecture, Culture, and Spirituality Forum and the Center on Modernity in Transition.
This speaker series will engage the work of four contemporary architects in the field of sacred/religious architecture. The series features the work of Joan Soranno (Lakewood Mausoleum, Minneapolis, Minnesota) on October 2, 2021); Siamak Hariri (Baha’i Temple, Santiago, Chile) on November 6, 2021; Brigitte Shim (Congregation Bet Ha’am, S. Portland, Maine) on February 5, 2022; and Nader Ardalan (Shams-i-Tabriz Mausoleum, Khoy, Iran) on April 9, 2022. The four events are structured so that each of the invited architects begins with a short presentation on their work, followed by a panel discussion with several other leading scholars and architects.
